Deniz is a Turkish-born Australian guitarist. Her passion for performing on stage began at a very young age whilst attending various ballet schools from the age of 4. The fact that she picked up the guitar along the way was rather unplanned - her talent for dance progressed which meant that she would need to relocate to a more prestigious ballet school away from her family. She unfortunately had to let go of the barre and picked up the guitar along the way - and has not looked back since!
Deniz performs as a soloist and chamber musician at some of Australia’s major venues. Her performance highlights include solo and chamber recitals at the Perth Government House and Melba Hall. As a prominent ensemble musician whilst in her youth, her performances have taken her throughout Australia, the UK and New Zealand in recitals and festivals.
Deniz had the privilege of studying at the University of Western Australia with renowned teacher Dr John Casey and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with Daniel McKay (Guitar Trek, Melbourne Guitar Quartet). She also received tuition in ensemble skills from guitarist-composer Ken Murray. In addition to her music studies, Deniz is an avid learner of foreign languages and she is currently completing diplomas in Russian and German.
Deniz regularly performs in masterclasses for many of the world’s leading guitarists and scholars including Ricardo Gallén, Lorenzo Micheli, Stephen Goss, Timothy Kain, Minh Le Hoang, Slava Grigoryan, Aleksandr Tsiboulski, Carlo Barone and Johannes Moeller amongst others.
Deniz plays a guitar made by renowned Australian luthier Paul Sheridan.
